RV changed installation mode in v8.5, see article 000042263 for more details.
This article will show you how to install hawk on top of RV 8.5.
Please note that RV is optional if using TCP or EMS as the message transport. However, communication between HMA and Hawkagent support RV only. That means if you want to use HMA, RV is required.

RV changed installation mode in v8.5, that impacted hawk installation. This article will show you how to install hawk on top of rv 8.5
Environment
Windows, Linux, Unix
Resolution
I assume you already have RV 8.5.x installed in the new environment. To install hawk, launch TIBCOUniversalInstaller, select "Create a new TIBCO_HOME" then browse the folder where RV installed.
Let's say "C:\tibco\rv\8.5" on windows or "/opt/tibco/rv/8.5" on Unix/Linux. You set the TIBCO_HOME to "C:\tibco" or "/opt/tibco". Installer may warn you that "The directory xxx is not an empty directory..." Just chose YES to ignore it.
Make sure your current user has the read and execute permission to the files and folders in RV_HOME, you are good to go. TIBCOUniversalInstaller will take care of everything.
After the installation, if you got failed to start HMA, please see article 000042559 to fix it.
