Columns and rows can be added to your data table in the following ways:
Alternative 1: 1. Click on the Files and data flyout in the upper left corner of the Spotfire client.
2. Select the data you wish to add.
3. In the window "Add data to analysis", click on the name of the data source you are adding data from to show the import settings, and change the selection from "Add as a new data table" to "Add as rows to" or "Add as columns to".
Note: If “Add as rows to” and “Add as columns to” are grayed out, make sure your existing data table is not external ("in-database"), as adding columns or rows is only supported for data that is in-memory.
4. If needed, click the Settings icon (the cog wheel) in order to change matches and/or joins, and click on "Transform data" if you want to transform (e.g. pivot) the added data.
5. Click OK.
Alternative 2: 1. Open the Data canvas either by clicking on the icon for it in the lower left corner of the Spotfire client or via Data menu > Data canvas.
2. Click on the plus sign next to the data source you want to add data to and select "Add rows" or "Add columns".
3. Select the data you wish to add.
4. If needed, click the Settings icon (the cog wheel) in order to change matches and/or joins, and click on "Transform data" if you want to transform (e.g. pivot) the added data.
5. Click OK.
Note 1: Not only can you add new data to your analysis in this way, but when selecting what data to add in the two alternatives documented above, listed under the "Other" option you will also find your existing data tables in the analysis, allowing you to add rows/columns from one existing data table to another.
Note 2: For more information on how to edit column matching when adding rows and columns in Spotfire 10 and higher, please see
