Issue/Introduction

How to resolve "An older version of Statistica has been detected" ? or How to upgrade to Statistica Version 14 ?

Resolution

Statistica 14.0 is a major release that does not support an in place upgrade from the prior release. Evaluate if the current installation of Statistica on the machine used Statistica document Management System (SDMS) and upgrade your Statistica installation accordingly. Useful reference articles can be found in the reference section.

If the current installation of Statistica has any custom files in the installation directory, take a back up of the customized files.  For Enterprise installations, take a backup of the existing meta databases. If the installation included SDMS - take a backup of the SDMS repository and run the migration utility ahead of time to ensure that all versioning files have migrated to the database successfully ( See: https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-run-the-Migration-Utility-to-transfer-SDMS-content-before-the-version-14-upgrade) . When the system is ready to be upgraded after taking into account the aforementioned factors, the procedure below can be performed on all current Statistica servers and workstations to completely upgrade to version 14.

On the Statistica server:
1. Download the installer for Statistica 14 (a.k.a TIBCO Data Science Workbench 1.3) from https://edelivery.tibco.com
2. Copy the zip to the Statistica server and unzip the directory.
3. This step is applicable only for Statistica Enterprise installations:  Update the database, if not done already . If using SDMS on the current installation, choose to permanently start using the in place versioning with Activate now at the end of the migration utility. Ensure the database has been upgraded (Reference: https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-run-the-Migration-Utility-to-transfer-SDMS-content-before-the-version-14-upgrade)

4. Close all instances of Statistica and uninstall Statistica [prior version] from Control Panel>>Programs and Features .
NOTE : It is recommended to declare an outage before this step so no users are logged in during the upgrade/impacted by the uninstall. The concurrent License Manager that is installed on the server can be used to ensure that no users or logged on/ identify users who are still logged on to Statistica)

5.Run Statist.exe from the extracted folder as an administrator ( Install Statistica as detailed in the installation instructions. Reference: https://docs.tibco.com/pub/dsc-stat/14.0.0/doc/pdf/TIB_dsc-stat_14.0_installation.pdf)

On Workstations:
