Products Versions
Spotfire Statistica 14.0

Description

Prior to version 14, Statistica Document Management System (SDMS) that added versioning capabilities to Statistica Enterprise was a separate product that had its own server, service, Meta database repository, SDMS Server application and SDMS Client applications.  The versions were stored as physical files on the SDMS Server.

User-added image

With TIBCO Statistica Version 14, the versioning capabilities are included with the product, thereby rendering the need for a separate installation of SDMS unnecessary. End Users who are upgrading from a prior version of Statistica will need to uninstall the old version and install the Statistica version 14 to switch to in-place versioning of TIBCO Statistica.

NOTE: The SDMS Data migration can be started several times as required  if any encountered errors need to be fixed before finally switching to in-place versioning.

Issue/Introduction

How to run the Migration Utility to transfer SDMS content before the version 14 upgrade ?

Environment

Windows operating systems only.

Resolution

Section 1: SDMS was installed and versioning information needs to be carried forward to the in place versioning of Statistica Version 14.

1. Download the Statistica Portable from here : https://support.tibco.com/s/hotfixes
Location of Statistica Portable 14.0.1.30
2. Backup the enterprise meta data repository before proceeding.
3. Remote into existing SDMS Server and copy the downloaded -Statistica.Portable-14.0.1.30.zip
4. Extract the contents of the zip file.

NOTE:  If Statistica is not installed on the SDMS server, the Statistica client must be installed. See the Installing Statistica on the Workstation section of page 25 here:  https://docs.tibco.com/pub/stat/14.1.0/doc/pdf/TIB_stat_14.1.0_installation.pdf?id=0  If SDMS and only Statistica License Manager service is installed (without Statistica Server), then uninstall the Statistica License Manager via Control Panel>>Programs and Features. Then install Statistica Server with Statistica License Manager service. For instructions for a specific version, go to  https://docs.tibco.com/products/tibco-statistica-14-0-0 and select the Statistica version near the top right corner.   Create an ODBC Data Source for the Enterprise Database on the SDMS server that matches the ODBC Data Source on the Statistica Server.  This can be done in the Windows "ODBC Data Sources (64-bit)" Administrative tool.

5. Run statist.exe from the directory where the Portable Distribution tool was unzipped to begin the
migration and upgrade process.

6. Confirm all actions when prompted if the enterprise meta database has been backed up.

8. Click No if you or your users intend to use the prior version of Statistica a little longer or if you need to fix any failed objects. The migration utility can be restarted before your final upgrade to Statistica version 14 to transfer any additional objects .  Refer to : https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-resolve-Migration-of-SDMS-content-was-only-partially-successful

Click Yes if the outage is in place where no users are adding more versions. When you click Yes, all prior versions of Statistica on statistica servers and workstations should have ideally been uninstalled and Statistica version 14 pointing to the new Statistica enterprise meta database should have been installed.

9. You may finalize the in-place versioning when all the servers and workstations have been upgraded.  Click Activate Now when the Statistica version 14 installation has successfully completed.
