Description

Automatic update has changed something on my virtual Windows operating system.  Now Statistica will not launch and a licensing error occurs.  Can this be fixed?

Possible causes:

#1 )One possible cause is a Windows Update.

#2)Another is when a virtual machine is moved, the MAC address of the virtual machine will change.

Issue/Introduction

Windows Automatic Updates causing licensing problems on virtual machine but also moving VM location may also cause licensing issues.

Environment

Windows operating systems only.

Resolution

SOLUTION ONE

Windows 10 updates can be controlled by following the steps in this third-party link:  2 ways to control Windows 10 automatic updates from PC World.  See also How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or registry settings    Is it not recommended to disable Windows updates for security reasons.   A better solution would be to determine which update caused the licensing issue, uninstall the update temporarily, and contact TIBCO Support for currently supported versions of Statistica only.  Create a TIBCO Support case with the Windows update information and licensing error here.

SOLUTION TWO

If using Parallels virtual software, it should be possible to keep the MAC address of the machine.   See Changing MAC Address After Moving the Virtual Machine.

For VMware see Select "I Moved It" when copying a virtual machine with a Statistica install   For additional information, see Maintaining and Changing the MAC Address of a Virtual Machine
