How to resolve "Error 1920. Service 'MASMonitorService' (MASMonitorService) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"? while installing Statistica 14 and pointing to a prior version's meta database ?  Or How to upgrade to version 14 if prior SDMS versions need not be migrated to version 14 or if SDMS Versioning was never enabled on the prior version. 

Likely Root cause :  Either the prior installation has SDMS and the SDMS migration was not finalized to use Statistica 14's in-place versioning (as described in : https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-run-the-Migration-Utility-to-transfer-SDMS-content-before-the-version-14-upgrade ) or Prior Installation did not have SDMS and the Migration Utility was never run. 

How to resolve "Error 1920. Service 'MASMonitorService' (MASMonitorService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services" while installing Statistica version 14?

1. Roll back the current installation if the error in description was encountered. 
2. Download the Statistica Portable from this site :  https://support.tibco.com/s/hotfixes. Navigate to Statistica>>14.0>>HF02 and download V140HF02.zip
3. Unzip the contents V140HF02.zip and copy the file named : Statistica.Portable-14.0.0.25.zip to the old Statistica server that has a DSN pointing to the prior meta database. 
4. Extract the contents of Statistica.Portable-14.0.0.25.zip. Place the stat.lic file (either from prior version or from Version 14 download : TIB_stat_licensing.zip contents. Refer to : https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-find-the-Statistica-License-keys-in-edelivery as required ) in the extracted folder. 
5. Run statist.exe as an administrator from the unzipped folder of the portable.
6.  You will receive a prompt indicating that the database needs to be upgraded to version 201 (if SDMS was disabled or if SDMS was never installed. Refer to the reference section if Migration Utility needs to be run). Click OK. Click Yes on the warning and wait to receive a message that the database upgrade was successful



7.  Uninstall the older version of Statistica (only if installing on the older server) .
8.  Download Statistica 14 Installer from edelivery.tibco.com , extract contents and run Statistica.exe with the installer file placed in the unzipped folder to install Statistica version 14.
